Okay, so I went Saturday night to see "The Secret Garden" at the University of Virginia's college at Wise. The plays that are performed are inside their new Gilliam Arts Center, which is really nice for the art and theatre students! This is the third play I have seen up there (20 minutes from my house) including "Dracula" and "He Who Gets Slapped" .... All great ....
But anyway, the play is about an English girl named Mary who lives in India. When her mother and father die in the result of an illness sweeping the country, Mary is taken by train to live in England with the only family she has, her Uncle Archibald. He is her mother's brother-in-law, and quite an odd fellow, constantly seeing visions and illusions of his late wife Lily all throughout his large home, which he claims to Mary is haunted.
While there, Mary hears of how her Aunt Lily died. She was sitting on the branch of a tree in her garden and fell off, which caused her to have her baby. She died in child birth. Because of this, her garden has been closed and become a secret. This is how Mary learns of the secret garden and discovers that she has a cousin named Conlin who has been bedridden his entire life (10 years). He is kept in a private bedroom, far away from any action. However once Mary finds him, she wants to take him to his mother's garden. She finds the garden's buried key and along with the gardener, brings the garden. All this time, Archibald has relocated to Paris -- to cure his insanity no doubt. After Conlin is wheeled out to the garden, he is healed by its magic! Archibald then returns to find his son well.
I really liked the play. It was well acted and the singing was wonderful, meriting much applause.
This was also the first time that I met the guy that I have been dating online, in person! His name is Tim, and along with my best friend, Marilyn, the three of us had an awesome time!
Well, that's all for right now .... I'll talk later .....

I was Born This Way!
I was excited last night that I could hardly sleep! As many of you know, today Lady Gaga released her new single "Born This Way" just 2 days before she is planning to sing it live at the Grammys! As soon as I woke up this morning, I logged on the iTunes as fast as my fingers could type and got the song -- it is absolutely FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it!
"Born This Way" has become my personal anthem! As a gay man, this song really speaks to me on a high emotional level ... And I seriously think it will help a lot in allowing me to learn to cope as I continue to stay in the closet around my family and some friends .... But I have already decided that as soon as I get to a point in my life where I can make my own rules (under the thumb of "the man" at the moment) I am coming out completely to the world. When that day comes, I will be so relieved. For those of you that are in the same situation as me, trust me: I feel your pain. But I know that we can get through this .... Hang in there -- it will get better.
To Lady Gaga, I say thank you so fucking much, Mother Monster! You got your "Poker Face" on! You have just made my day brighter and sparked a new ray of hope inside me that will grow and burn as I learn with the help of my closest friends, my beautiful platonic soul mate, my adorably cute boyfriend, and my funny accepting brother to continue to love myself for me and use my passion for life, love, and of course writing to make my mark on the world and show everyone what I am made of ....
That's all for now, I'll talk later ..... But let me leave you with this: Put your paws up because you were born this way!

Page 4 and a Song!
I have finally made it to page 4! I know, I know, but it's beginning to be a slow process. I really need to make more time to write, or I am never going to get finished!
But on a lighter note, I did manage to pen a song that I hope will be included in the film. All I need now is to get a piano so I can write the "music" portion to go along with the "lyrics" ..... The song itself is called --
"Bad Man" .....
Here are the lyrics:
VERSE 1
Check out the guy in the black suit
You better clear out, he's a bad dude
There is a scar under his right eye
He'll ruin your life, and make you cry
PRE-CHORUS
He don't care, what your name is
Take you out, and end up blameless
CHORUS
He' a--
Heartbreaker, skirtchaser, liar cheater troublemaker
Watch out for the tricks he'll play
Don't believe the words he'll say
POST CHORUS
Keep your distance right there where you stand
Hope they better catch him if they can
'Cause he's a bad man
Bad man, a bad bad man x2
(Piano Instrumental part here)
VERSE 2
Take a good look at his sly grin
The criminal's bait, to draw you in
You'll want to think you're his only girl
He'll light the match, and burn your world
REPEAT PRE-CHORUS, CHORUS, AND POST CHORUS
Bad man, a bad bad man x2 (this is separate from the one in the Post Chorus, giving a total of x4)
TAG (SLOW)
Watch out for the tricks he'll play
Don't believe the words he'll say
They better catch that dangerous man
He'll get you any way that he can
I hope that you can understand
LAST LINE
That he's a bad man
That's it! Good? Bad? I think it's okay ....
But anyway, I'm off to write some more. Talk later .....

The American Screenplay
Okay, so as a writer, one of my biggest goals is to actually finish a complete screenplay, what I call damn good screenplay .... I have currently started one involving Italian criminals -- not [Mafia] related -- a French cafe, and New York City .... It takes place in the mid 1940s .......
......I'm already on page three and can't wait to write some more later this afternoon. The only major concern I have with the overall story itself is the fact that the script is going to cut back and forth through time -- much like Christopher Hampton's screenplay "Atonement" -- and having recently watching that movie with my parents and having to explain why certain scenes were replayed from different views ..... Well, I just don't want to confuse people ...... But then again, I'm not the writer -- Christopher Nolan -- of "Inception" -- and people that I saw that movie with said that it was brilliant -- but a total mind fuck ...... So, you can see why i may be a little worried ........
........ All I want to do, is to give the public -- mostly my friends -- a film that will be fun and entertaining to watch and appeal to a wide audience and help to establish myself in the film making industry ....... I'm not trying to be the next Steve Spielberg or even the next Quentin Tarantino ....... Just another guy bringing cinema entertainment to the world ..... Well, the United States at least! haha
That's all for now ..... I'll be back later ........

Introductions
Okay, here it is --
My name is Andy Maddox. I am first and foremost a writer, and probably the most original person you will ever meet. I've been creatively weaving together stories since I was a kid, and I still do today ....
Here are a few things you should know about me:
I am an awkward skinny American unfortunately living in a part of the country where creativity and being different is often frowned upon. Seriously. My hometown can be summed up by this sentence -- a small community mostly consisting of middle-class types that are close-minded and highly conservative. And for someone like me who is a huge nonconformist, it can be considered Republican Hell as far as I'm concerned. And it probably doesn't help much to the fact that I am gay -- yeah I said it. If that offends you, I'm sorry you feel that way because all humans are built the same way on the inside and as soon as you wake up and get the point, the better. I have only told a few people that I am close to -- including the guy I am with, obviously -- haha :) ....... Where I am from, being gay is considered an illness or a problem one has to go away to get "fixed" ..... But oh well, enough about that for now...... This blog is basically for me to chronicle my attempt to reach the point in my life where I am making a living off of my craft. As soon as that happens, you'll be the first to know!
That's all for now. I'll talk later, soon ......
